Urban Betty Salon in Austin brings the charm of a shabby-chic cottage to Central Texas; and brings to life the vision of salon owner, Chelle Morrison.
Chelle opened the first Urban Betty Salon in January 2005 at the 26 Doors Shopping Centre in the heart of mid-town Austin, with just six stations and two stylists. Since then the salon has grown into larger space in the same complex, housing 16 stations and a full staff of more than 25 employees.
The salon, which surrounds a bright and beautiful garden atrium, takes its inspiration from the comfortable shabby-chic of a country cottage. Combined with the allure of early 20th century pin-ups, the salon look is glamorous but still warm and welcoming.
Notable features include a desk built out of vintage doors which have been painted white and pieced together. A favourite piece from the original salon, the desk was moved to the new space and extended to create an island-style reception.
Vintage doors are also used to create a division within the salon, with floating doors suspended on chains to create privacy for colour clients while maintaining the open feel of the space and tying in with the vintage mood.
