I always look at the HJ Voicenotes column first as I love hearing people's unfiltered opinions, and the HJ Debate is good to read to get an insight into what the industry is thinking on important topics that really affect us. I love the monthly page that features the HJ Insider survey it's great for finding out all the stats, things like what percentage of the industry is employed vs self employed, what colour service is proving the most popular or whether the industry is up or down on profit compared to the previous year - I'm such a nerd!

Lloyd Court, Creative Director, Seanhanna Salons

HJ is the bible of the hairdressing industry. Its editorial remains impartial, informative and engaging and I truly believe it has the most trusted content that genuinely helps hairdressers navigate through their careers.

WHO???

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I subscribe monthly or annually?

Membership can be paid:

  • Monthly (UK only):
Pay by Direct Debit. This renews automatically, but you can cancel at any time and your access continues until the end of the month you've paid for.

  • Annual (Worldwide):
Pay once upfront for 12 months. This is a one-off payment and does not automatically renew.

What does the membership include?

Membership benefits vary depending on the package you choose.

  • Silver Membership includes full access to the digital magazine and unlimited access to industry resources.

  • Gold Membership includes both print and digital magazine access, plus unlimited access to exclusive industry resources.

I’ve already received a magazine, do I still need to sign up?

Yes. Receiving a magazine does not automatically give you full membership access. To benefit from digital access, exclusive subscriber content, and member benefits, you’ll still need to sign up for a Silver (digital) or Gold (print & digital) membership.

I’m a member of a sister title, do I have access?

No. Access to Hairdressers Journal International content is only included with a Professional Beauty membership.

If you'd like access to Hairdressers Journal International, you’ll need to take out a membership with us separately.

Do I get free tickets to the events as part of my membership?

Membership does not automatically include free event tickets. Some membership benefits may include discounted or priority access, but complimentary tickets are not guaranteed. Any benefits redeemed that have a ticket value require a minimum 12- month subscription commitment.

Can I downgrade my subscription?

If you are on a Direct Debit subscription, you may cancel at any time, and your current membership will continue until the end of the paid period. You can then choose a different membership level when you renew.

If you have purchased an Annual One-Off subscription, this cannot be changed or downgraded mid-term. You will be able to select a different membership package once your current subscription ends.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time by contacting us through the details on our Contact page.

  • Direct Debit subscriptions (UK only):
You can cancel at any time. No refunds are issued for payments already made, and your access will continue until the end of the paid period.

  • Annual one-off payment subscriptions:
These can only be cancelled within the 14-day cooling-off period. After that, the subscription runs until the end of the 12 months and cannot be refunded mid-term.

If you are within the 14-day cooling-off period, you may be eligible for a refund (with a £10 administration fee), depending on whether any issues have been received or digital access has been used.
