For bridal hair specialists it's important to stay on top of bridal hair trends to create fresh, personalised looks that stand out from the crowd - and the wedding party!
With wedding season now firmly underway, Nicole Petty, hair expert at Milk & Blush, shares her top five bridal hair trends of 2025 that hair professionals need to be ready for.
Juliet Cap Veils
Romantic vintage styles are back in a big way for 2025, particularly Juliet cap veils, which are set to be one of the biggest bridal trends this year. While they can work for almost any hair type and style, the look pairs perfectly with vintage or bohemian themes, so this should be reflected in the hairstyle too. A low chignon is perfect for brides that want traditional elegance, while also emphasising the dramatic shape of the Juliet cap veil.
Alternatively, opting for undone waves with a centre parting is a fabulous choice for boho brides looking for a laid-back cool-girl vibe. Kate Moss’ bridal hairstyle is a prime example, with her loose waves pairedwith a 1920s-style cap veil. Stylists should look to secure Juliet cap veils with discreet hair clips or sewn-in loops to ensure it stays inplace throughout the day.
Hair Tinsel
More and more brides are forgoing traditional large-scale weddings in favour of intimate, personalised celebrations. Rather than treating the big day as a formal, high-cost affair, many are embracing a more relaxed, party-like atmosphere, an attitude that’s reflected in their bridal hairstyles.
This year, whimsical, party-themed looks are stealing the spotlight, with hair tinsel set to be a dazzling trend for 2025. Every bride wants to shine on her wedding day, and hair tinsel offers a fun, playful way to take centre stage. Whether brides want stand-out colourful streaks or more subtle tones that are colour-matched to the hair, hair tinsel can be a great option for adding extra sparkle in wedding photos. Hair professionals could consider offering a hair tinsel add-on service for brides and bridal parties, ensuring safe application and professional removal post-wedding.
Undone Waves
One trend that has had a chokehold on brides for years is the ultra-glam Hollywood waves. But just as weddings as a whole are becoming more paired back, so too are bridal hairstyles. More brides will be opting for softer undone waves for their bridal hairstyles this wedding season. Just look to Joey King’s loose blonde waves for inspiration. To get the look, curl the hair using a large-barrelled curling iron, focusing only on the lengths and ends. Stylists will also want to make sure the hair is spaced along the entire curling iron to avoid the waves becoming too bouncy. A good tip is to check there’s at least an inch-long gap between each curl around the curler barrel. Brides may also want to invest in high-quality clip-in hair extensions for extra volume and length for their big day. Finish with a generous spritz of hairspray to keep the hair in place all day.
Glass Bead Hair Accessories
Hair pearls have been the big bridal hair accessory in recent years, but now we’re seeing a new trend take over social media. Glass teardrop beads are this year’s most whimsical wedding hair, as this viral TikTok video proves. Unlike hair tinsel, which can work for any hair type, some hair types will need to be more cautious before attempting this style. Curly hair types may struggle to remove the beads safely, which need to be sewn onto individual hair strands. Similarly, fine or damaged hair may find the glass beads too weighty for their more fragile locks and could experience damage when removed. Stylists should always offer a consultation to discuss hair suitability before agreeing to this style. A trial will be necessary to ensure bead placement works well for the bride and any other hair accessories, as well as to test that hair won’t be damaged upon removal.
Super Sleek Buns
Sometimes simplicity can be the most striking. While undone, whimsical styles are on the rise, sleek and timeless styles are just as popular for brides who covet simplified drama. Sofia Richie’s sleek bun is one such example of how pairing back your hairstyle can amplify the elegance of your wedding look. It's also a perfect choice for brides jetting off to a warm destination wedding, keeping their hair effortlessly stylish and off their neck. Stylists should begin by smoothing the hair with a paddle brush and applying a smoothing serum or cream to tame any flyaways. Gather the hair at the nape of the neck and twist it into a low bun. Secure the bun with bobby pins, ensuring it is sleek and secure. Smooth any loose hairs with a fine-tooth comb and tuck them into the bun. Finish with a strong-hold hairspray to keep the style in place all day and night.
