The survey, by the hair transplant centre, claims men are aged by just three years by grey hair, while women look six years older. The results also show that women first start going grey at the age of 34 - the same age as the Duchess of Cambridge. And as soon as eight of ten women see that first grey hair, they start to pluck them, while the majority of men are happy to let nature take its course. The survey also reveals that 72% of women dread the onset of grey hair and decide to colour their hair straight away - good news for salons who can offer grey coverage and anti-ageing colour services. Hair transplant surgeon Asim Shahmalak, owner of Crown Clinic, says: "More than 60% of us have some grey hair by the age of 40 and there is no doubt that greying hair is a factor in the ageing process. For women, it's the most important factor, which explains why three quarters of women choose to disguise their greyness. For men, most would rather be grey than bald. George Clooney is a worldwide sex symbol with grey hair and shows the it can be attractive and doesn't need covering up."
