London fashion week autumn/winter 2013: meadham kirchhoff

James Pecis created evolving riot girls for the Meadham Kirchhoff Autumn/Winter 2013 show at London Fashion Week.
Show: Meadham Kirchhoff
Stylist: James Pecis for Bumble and bumble
The inspiration: Riot girls and the 1920s
The look: The show features four different evolving looks, starting with a 90s riot girl look inspired by Sleater Kinney with short blunt fringes and moving into a ladylike sophisticated woman with a twist using pincurls for a 1920s influence.
Faux short cuts were also included, inspired by the wealth of models with shorter hair this season using manicured wigs.
Get the look: To create the pincurl style, hair was prepped with a huge amount of Holding Spray and Gellac, saturating the hair to create a glossy, wet-look finish even when dried.
Curls were then created, shaping with tongs, then pinned to the head and heated to set - James revealed he had the whole team in pin-curl masterclass the night before to ensure they had the look perfectly mastered.
Hairspray and shine spray were also used on the finished styles to create more gloss, with faux-fringes added to some of the models. Less shine spray was used on the more 'grown up' styles to add a further gradient of transition; from high-shine to matte.
Key product: Bumble and bumble Extra Strength Holding Spray, Bb Shine, Gellac, Spray de Mode
The gossip: Twelve extra bottles of Gellac had to be delivered from the press office at the last minute thanks to the the OTT styles.
