Hair by JFK in Edinburgh offered an alternative to the clichés and schmaltz of Valentine's Day with a special Love/Hate Day.
In contrast to the cheesy pink heart balloons that usually pop up for Valentine's Day, Hair by JFK decorated their salon with red and black balloons - red for those who love Valentine's Day, and black for those who hate it. They also offered goody bags of sweets to each client, with a choice of Love Hearts for the lovers and sours for the haters!
In addition, they invited local musicians into the salon to provide the perfect soundtrack to the day. Local violinist, Polina Domnina serenaded their clients with classic love songs, whilst local singer/songwriter, Jason Kyrone performed a selection of angsty rock ballads.
"It was all about having fun and doing something a little bit different,' said creative director, Karen Brown. 'Our clients have been really divided in the past regarding Valentine's Day so this year we decided to cater for all tastes and put our own quirky spin on it!'
