What can we expect at london fashion week
London Fashion Week starts tomorrow and after a sedate week in New York, what can we expect over the next five days? Darren Fowler, international creative director for Clipso, London, is working backstage at various shows including the opening show, Paul Costelloe. "I'm heading up four shows this season and each are very diverse. For Paul Costelloe, think May West meets Mary Antoinette after a good night out! Hair will be big, deconstructed updo's.
With Brendan Chandran, the faces are whitened out so the hair will reflect this. We have a black band around the face and hair, the hair is then swept tightly back and up so it's got that air hostess feel. For Ziad Ghanem, we're going for a burlesque twist - think 40/50's chignons at the front and back but then we're also including shaven heads to shake it up! At Central St Martins, it's more natural with simple ponytails and a deconstructed central parting and soft pieces pulled out so its more natural looking."
The TIGI team have just spent the past week over in New York and are now heading home. Maria Kovacs says: "There's a nonchalant mood coming through for catwalk hair for the coming autumn/winter. Casually chic looped ponytails, undone and textured or loosely plaited giving a nod to the 80s and 90s in a natural, healthy mode with a shiny, soft, clean finish. It's about grunge-meeting glamour - girly yet sophisticated, understated and fresh...the perfect look for the individualist! Must have accessory: hair grips!"
