The fellowship for british hairdressing announces sassoon scholarship winner

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing has announced Kim Nicole Jones from The Salon in Anglesey as winner of this year’s Sassoon Scholarship in association with Denman. As winner of the Sassoon Scholarship, Kim is entitled to the choice of two in-person courses, two online courses and a professional toolkit from Denman, who also provide a financial contribution towards travel and accommodation costs. This year’s interviews took place over Zoom, with a line-up of judges which included Martyn Wady for Denman; Damien Peers, senior creative director for Sassoon; and Karoliina Saunders representing the Fellowship. Interviews were overseen by fellowship chancellor, Ashleigh Hodges. This year, 12 finalists were interviewed, sharing with the judges their career hopes and goals, and what they wanted to achieve with their education. The finalists were as listed below: - Courtney Bunce, The Strand, Ruislip - Ellie Parish, Sculpture Salon, Rye - Katie Cook, Brooke Evans, Ironbridge - Scott Musgrove, Scott Musgrove, Stamford - Daniel Caines, Joseph Ferraro Hair, Harrogate - Kirsty Tremlett, French Hair & Beauty, Torquay - Kay Binnersley, Kay Binnersley Hair, Pontefract - Kelly Eggar, Escape Hair Lounge, Portsmouth - Lee Patrick Devlin, Paul Watts Hair, Northamptonshire - Nathan Klein, Linnaean, London - Charlie Brain, Nick Brain Hairdressing, Bath - Kim Nicole Jones, The Salon, Anglesey Upon her victory, Kim commented: “I’m still completely in shock that I am this year’s winner. I can’t wait to bring everything I learn back to Anglesey, to fulfil my passion of educating others and providing a totally different hairdressing experience for my clients. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and cannot thank Sassoon, the Fellowship and Denman enough for supporting this fabulous scholarship each year.” Ashleigh also commented: “The Sassoon Scholarship is such an incredible opportunity, which is evident by the number of people who applied. It was so great to see Kim win, as someone who had previously applied and listened to the feedback she received. She went away, worked hard and came back ready.. I’m excited to see her continue to grow through the Scholarship and beyond.” This follows The Fellowship for British Hairdressing recently announcing Barry Stephens as their new chair and Andreas Stavrou as vice-chair.
