Strictly come dancing hair: expert advice from the show's stylist Strictly Come Dancing Hair: Expert Advice from the Show's Stylist UNITE Senior Creative Director Fletcher has just completed his tour with Strictly Come Dancing at the O2, London, it’s been a long journey, but here are some of his top tips on getting that gorgeously glam Strictly Come Dancing hair. 1. The one rule of show hair is to look after the hair you've got! Having the hair styled twice daily for weeks on end can cause real damage so it's imperative that you treat the hair with lots of care. U Luxury Shampoo and Conditioner from Unite strengthen the hair so it can withstand excessive styling. 2. Once condition is taken care of, you need to get more hair in! Clip-in wefts are great for a ballroom blitz or if you’re really going for it, try a half wig. 3. When applying wefts, backcomb hair where the clip is going to be placed and sprinkle a texture product like Unite Expanda Dust on before clipping in. This will ensure the weft doesn't move, even on the finest of hair. 4. To create the sexiest of curls, try using heated rollers instead of a curling iron. Again, when you're styling the same person's hair over and over again, heated rollers are a kinder option because they heat the hair gradually. This also ensures the curl lasts longer. 5. To revive curls when they have dropped, spray hair with a product like Unite Shina Mist. Mist on and twist hair back in to its original bouncy curl. Reheating the hair once it's been set damages it, and you won’t want that when you have a whole tour ahead! 6. To get the iconic disco style that Abbey Clancy wore for her Saturday Night Fever number, you need to have really tight curls. A small curling iron will achieve this look, but you must remember to curl the hair in alternate directions to prevent the curls from joining together and creating a wave. 7. The best way to keep these curls from dropping is to make sure you have product in the hair before you style, rather than just hairspray after you've curled it. Unite Boosta Spray and Unite Blow and Set lotion together are perfect for this. 8. For Natalie Gumede’s jive to Proud Mary the bigger her hair was the better! For this look we brushed out her natural curl and backcombed the roots, sprinkling Unite Expanda Dust on to the backcombing. We then used a pick to sculpt the shape once the volume has been created and finished with Session Max. 9. For a smooth, bouncy blow-dry, an aluminium brush is a good idea. Unite brushes are aluminum and this means they  retain heat without damaging the hair; because the aluminum retains heat, it will speed up the blow-dry time and help hold the style in place. 10. A final tip for finishing the hair once you've been heat styling is to always cool it down with the cold shot on your hairdryer to set the style!
