- Think about your business, what do you excel in? What makes you the best business and why are you different to every other salon out there?
- Take a good look at the categories and see which one fits with how your business runs and succeeds. So for example, no matter how much you want to win Retail Salon of the Year if you don’t have the initiatives in place and the figures to back it up it won’t happen. So be realistic and ensure you choose an award that will represent your business.
- Once you have a category in mind, really analyse the evidence you need to supply and what you currently have. The beauty of starting this early means you have time to fill in any gaps before you need to start designing the entry. So plan out what your answers will be and make sure you have something to back up everything you are saying.
- Now check the deadline and work backwards! It will always, always take longer than you think to get it all finalised. So create a schedule for when you will get all the images sorted, when the answers will be written, when you’ll design it, when it will be proof read and then allow plenty of time for printing and posting.
