Spring/ summer hair at london fashion week

As autumn/winter trends become the most required hairstyles in the salon; some of the most forward thinking hairdresssers are already looking to 2009 and next spring's trends at London Fashion Week.

Salon group TONI&GUY have teams styling catwalk hair throughout London Fashion Week spring/summer 09. Here is their show-by-show account of the hairstyles they have created.

On day one, it was all about luscious, expensive-looking locks.

Sunday 14th September

Paul Costelloe

Sharp tailoring complemented with sheer fabrics and elegant dresses, nipped in at the waist for a highly feminine feel. Colours ranged from muted shades to acid brights!

Show inspiration

Out of Africa fabric and prints combined with sharp 60s inspired tailoring with a military edge.

Hairstyles created

Polished, Parisian and grown up, hair was given an asymmetric twist with an off-centre, low-slung ponytail, finished with a wrap fringe tucked over the ear for a feminine edge.

Karen Brost

East coast meets west coast, a muddle of eras with 50s summer dresses, floor skimming catsuits and strong undertones of 70s rock.

The idea behind the styling was to capture the feeling of the original Sara Moon imagery meets The Good Life's Margot Ledbetter.

Mythical characters and iconic representations of religion and traditional culture, are contrasted with the concept of the innocence of a young school boy.

Objective behind the look was to create a really dry texture that emulated a windswept, out-in-the field effectless effect.

Spijkers en Spijkers

Über feminine with a real sense of female empowerment, floaty shapes were complemented by sheer fabrics, ruffles and graphic necklines in bright pastel shades and bold prints.

1960s Stepford wives with a militant edge. Bright pastel pallet of sheer chiffons juxtaposed against leopard print and lace for a highly feminine, fluid collection that screamed powerful femininity.

Soft movement combined with shine with softness for a look that's flat and sleek at the roots with volume and texture through the mid lengths and ends.
