The day itself takes place on the first shopping Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses. Among those supporting the event on Saturday 6 December is Sally Montague, director, Sally Montague Hair Group, Derbyshire. Says Sally: “Running a Derbyshire-based business over the last 30 years means that shopping locally has always been of the utmost importance to me. As a result, the Sally Montague Hair Group always joins the annual Small Business Saturday Campaign, to help support, inspire and champion small businesses in the local area. Our aim is to persuade people to shop locally, to help existing businesses to thrive, while giving potential businesses the encouragement they may need to take the plunge in 2015. "We tempt consumers through the door by creating a welcoming, festive environment, that includes mince pies and complimentary drinks, and to make our clients’ shopping experience even more enjoyable on the day, we offer 10% off all products and accessories purchased across our six-salon group. We also spread the word on our social media networks, linking in with other local businesses where possible. I think it’s important for independent, small local businesses to support initiatives such as these, to ensure consumers really help retailers to thrive in amongst the sea of larger corporations that can so often overshadow what we do." Embassy Hair, based at Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, will also be lending its support to Small Business Saturday . Says co-owner, Joel Thompson: “With Small Business Saturday sandwiched in between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it's a great opportunity to celebrate all things independent and create a buzz for the salon. I think it’s a great campaign and we need to take advantage of this to remind people that independent salons can still offer high quality hairdressing and an excellent experience.” Pearson Clark Hairdressing, based at Frinton-on-Sea, Essex,  is set to launch it’s loyalty reward scheme on the day to add value and promote the importance of supporting the town’s independent businesses.
