Mark Woolley and the Electric Art Team got the HJ stage off to a stylish start on day two of Salon International 2011 with a trio of editorial looks, inspired by the team's work at London Fashion Week.

The team combined textured updos with wefts of hairsheets for avant garde styles with colour and serious volume.

mark-leeson-hj-stage.jpgBritish Hairdresser of the Year nominee, Mark Leeson, drew in huge crowds for his stint on the HJ stage.

His presentation recreated a nature-inspired look he had styled for Goldwell's Color Zoom trend Fasci-Nature as well as sharing the stories behind two creative styles that used playful colour to create an impact.

The Hairdressing Council took to the HJ Stage later on in the afternoon to announce the winners of their UK Hairdressing Student of the Year awards.

George Payne and Emma Billington were awarded as winners, receiving certificates for their achievement.

The talented young hairdressers showed two very different winning styles, with George presenting a model with voluminous bright red curls and Emma showing off a cream and purple bob with curving clean lines.

British Hairdresser of the Year nominee Akin Konizi and Claire Atkinson were given the daunting task of shaving four brave ladies heads in the name of charity.
