Revisiting the angelo seminara sushi collection for 2014 Revisiting the Angelo Seminara Sushi collection for 2014 The recent Davines Hair on Stage show saw a reinvention of the iconic Angelo Seminara Sushi collection, which the hairdressing mastermind first created in 2008. Created by carefully layering colour to recreate the appearance of a sushi roll, the technique formed the basis of a breathtaking collection which Angelo created specifically for HJ. "I had an idea a long time ago to play with colours to do something that looks almost like sweets, almost like the inside of sushi," he explained at the time. "To achieve this look we have found a really good technique, which I have called the 'sushi roll' technique. "We put different layers of hair and rolled them together and then cut them. As you cut the shapes, the hair, which has been crimped, expands and you get the beautiful colours. As you cut it with a pair of clippers you see all the shapes coming through." Presented at Davines Hair on Stage as part of a stunning show of colour, the Davines artistic director surprised the audience by revisiting the technique as his grand finale. "It's important to reinvent the classics," he said, before cutting open a carefully-placed high bun to reveal a roll of pastel shades.
