Pfw trend report: blurred lines with eugene souleiman at acne studios aw16
Acne PFW Taking inspiration from the brand’s androgynous aesthetic, Eugene used this to create the look of an irreverent rocker, turning up at a techno gig, removes the beanie they’ve been wearing all day to reveal flattened hair with raw, dishevelled texture. “Jonny (Johansson) creates in a way that’s not unlike modern music production – it’s a cut-and-paste, mash-up approach that samples multiple influences. It has a makeshift quality that’s essentially about the attitude, not a specific genre or gender, and we wanted the hair to reflect that spirit of anarchic creativity and overall individual style.” Get the Look Eugene started by creating a deep side-parting in line with the outer point of the eyebrow. Load the hair with masses of EIMI Sugar Lift apply up-close and brush flat, follow the head-shape to create a sweeping fringe across the forehead, covering the ear and secured tightly at the nape of the neck. On the other side of the parting, slick back with heavy product and secure at the nape; then spray lengths liberally with EIMI Super Set Hairspray. Squash flat to remove volume and create a raw, matted finish. Next, wrap net tightly around the head and blow-dry thoroughly to set the style in place. Remove nets and rub a tiny amount of EIMI Texture Touch into palms before dragging against the flattened surface of the hair to create friction and achieve a shiny, mussed-up broken finish. As a final touch, spray EIMI Dry Me all over and pull free strands, rub them between thumb and forefinger to create random wisps of fly-away texture. “This look is all about blurred lines: masculine/feminine; rock/techno; flat/textured; dryness/shine. It’s a very precise, definite look, but it’s not smooth or neatly groomed; it’s compact and intense, with hair squashed flat to accentuate the head shape, then softened up with raw, broken texture.”
