Award-winning hairdresser and founder of Electric London, Mark Woolley, recently took a young budding entrepreneur under this wing to show him what it takes to run an international hairdressing business
Mark regularly visits his old school in Richmond, Yorkshire, to talk about his business journey and the different careers in hairdressing; Mark has salons in Brighton and Reading, the Electric Space in Marylebone, London, and a range of products, also under the name Electric London.
One student was so impressed he asked if he could come and have a work placement with him in London – and discovered the wide opportunities available in hairdressing. From running a successful salon, to leadership and product development, Mark showed him the different ways to succeed.
“There are so many opportunities out there and young people need to aim high and try to secure the best placement possible in an area that interests them. Work experience is definitely an opportunity that benefits everyone for the future and it’s my generation’s responsibility to ensure we pass on our skills, knowledge and experiences to make the next generation better than us.”
