Searches for Margot Robbie’s new hairstyle have skyrocketed in recent weeks, with Google Trends data showing queries for “Margot Robbie short hair” rising +750%, alongside spikes for “Margot Robbie bob” +600% and “Margot Robbie new haircut” +500%.
The surge follows Margot's appearance at the Chanel Autumn/Winter 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week, where she debuted a fresh lob-length bob with soft, piecey bangs, signalling what many fans are calling her “new hair era”.
Margot's hair became a talking point throughout the press tour for Wuthering Heights, where she wore long, soft blonde waves reminiscent of her character Cathy. Her latest transformation introduces a lob that falls between the chin and collarbone, finished with textured bangs for a relaxed but polished look.
The appeal of Robbie's new look lies in its balance between being both polished and effortless, according to Rina Teslica, SEO Strategist and trend expert at Cult Beauty.
“Margot Robbie’s new bob is a subtle nod to the 80s-inspired hair revival we’re seeing this year. The soft texture, gentle volume and slight side part give the style that effortless, undone feel that was popular during the 80s, but with a more modern finish,” she explains.
“We’re already seeing a big shift away from ultra-sleek centre partings towards softer side parts, which instantly add movement and lift to shorter styles. It’s a small styling change that can completely transform a bob, and we expect this look to be one of the biggest hair trends this season.”
Shorter hair can easily become weighed down, which is why Rina recommends lightweight styling creams or texture sprays to help maintain volume and separation without making the hair look greasy.
“A product like Hair by Sam McKnight Cool Girl Barely There Texture Mist works well for adding subtle texture and lift while keeping the hair looking effortless,” she suggests.
Discussing why Margot’s new look is gaining so much interest, award-winning hairdresser Melissa Timperley, founder of Melissa Timperley Salons, highlights the wearability of the cut, which might be helping to pique interest. “It still has enough length to style in different ways, but the fringe and texture give it personality and frame the face beautifully,” she says.
When it comes to bob transformations in the salon, you might be surprised to learn that hair extensions can still play a crucial role. Poppy Saunders, Remi Cachet Super Stylist of the Year, explains: “The modern bob is about soft movement and body through the mid-lengths. Extensions can be strategically added to increase density and structure, especially for finer hair, giving the cut that full, expensive-looking shape,” she explains.
