January is a great time to get the team on board with PR, says PR expert
Laura Glazebrook of LWPR. Why not kick start the new year with a team get together to share visions and ideas for 2016, look at the PR messages you really want to put out there and how the team can be involved.
- Encourage ideas
Ask your team members what local or industry projects they know of and would like to be involved with. You’ll get much more buy in from a team if they are involved in choosing which projects, charities and events you as a business will be supporting.
- Generate trends
An out-of-the-salon team meeting can be a great way to brainstorm and really get the creative juices flowing. Ask your team to share what trend they see happening in hairdressing both in the salon and with celebrities; they’ll see things quite differently to how you as a salon owner do and their insight is an valuable resource so make the most of it.
- Keep it social
We all know social media is crucial for every business but do your team know the difference between using social media platforms for the business as opposed to personally? Talk them through the tone of voice they should be using if they are posting from your business accounts, what pictures are and aren’t acceptable and how to deal with less than positive comments. It’s always a good idea to clarify how the team can help and ensure they are keeping your brand identity in mind
- Out and about
Hairdressing is a great industry with many events, exhibitions and opportunities to network so share the dates with your team. Let them know how they can get tickets, what the costs are and if they are allowed time off to go to them!
