Mahogany present for The Colour Project 2013

The Fellowship Colour Project team recently enjoyed an artistic day with mentor Tai Walker, head of colour at Mahogany Salons.

Revealing his artistic inspirations, Tai started the day by providing the team with a presentation on renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, who inspired his recent Rock Sensual collection following a visit to her retrospective at the Tate Modern.

Tai went on to demonstrate a back-to-back slicing technique, inspired by an installation called The Mirror Room - creating the illusion of infinity within his work.

The team were then tasked with presenting their own moodboards, inspired by the work of artists that they admired. Amongst the diverse collectives were Banksy, Salvador Dali and Shirley Jaffe. It was then up to the team to produce their own colour looks.

Tai said: "I was really impressed with the looks created by the team and they were so enthusiastic about what we had taught them. Education days like these are great and it’s brilliant to work with an audience who motivate and inspire me!"
