The L'Oreal Professionnel Catwalk Showcase for Autumn/Winter 2013 reached London last night, following a tour of the UK.
Taking in seven cities and presenting more than 1,200 trend-seeking stylists, the tour showcased new season cuts and colours from the stunning IT Looks collection, inspired by street style and celebrity trends.
Showcasing the talent of the hairdressing stars of tomorrow, the tour was hosted by a 31-strong team of ID Artists - and, for the first time - Colour ID Artists, who had been honing their skills under the watchful eye of this season's mentors, colourist Paul Dennison, cutting guru Dylan Bradshaw and session stylist Richard Philipart.
At the London event, audiences were treated to live Colour ID Artist demonstrations from Vernon Deysel from Paul Edmonds and Kerrie O’Reilly from Brooks and Brooks, as well as ID Artists Natasha Pearson from Pearson Clark Hairdressing, Jamie Benny from Rush London, Kelly May from Cutting Crew and Freya Haines from Electric Hairdressing.
Metallics reigned in terms of colour, ranging from warm coppers and glistening rose golds to steely and platinum blondes - with a few pops of vibrant shades courtesy of the new

Punk continued to make its presence felt in cuts, with shattered edges, ultra-short pixie crops and aggressive fringes all providing evidence of the anarchic influence so present on the catwalks for the season.
Styling also had an edgy feel, with tight scalp braids and fauxhawks taking their place alongside more traditionally glam curls, but it was a plaited updo that snaked down the torso into a spectacularly intricate body harness that stole the show as the perfect example of L'Oreal Professionnel's harmonious relationship between hair and fashion.
Vernon from Paul Edmonds, a second year Colour ID Artist, commented: "It was an honour to be involved in the Autumn/Winter Catwalk Showcase, especially as this is the first season the Colour ID Artists have been presenting on stage. We had an amazing response from the audience and I spoke to a lot of technicians about my look and the techniques and colours used to achieve such a dramatic blonde transformation. This gave me a real sense that they were planning to use ideas we presented and translate them back at the salon which is exactly what we’re hoping for when we design the looks. Being on the Colour ID Artist Programme is better than I ever imagined it could be, my advice to anyone looking to further their career is to audition for the next intake. It’s a life changing experience."
