Fellowship president's night it's a kind of magic
The Fellowship for British Hairdressings' President's Night had a Las Vegas theme, and outgoing president Steven Goldsworthy pulled out all the stops to ensure his farewell had all the glitz and glamour of a night out in the gambling capital.
Even Elvis, looking suspiciously like Balmain's key account manager David Jelley, was on hand to belt out some Vegas classics.
The promise of an evening of high octane entertainment attracted the great and good of hairdressing, all there to celebrate the achievements of Steven and to welcome in new Fellowship president, Terry Calvert.
Welcoming guests, Steven said: "Tonight I hand over to our new president, Mr Terry Calvert. Looking back over the last two years there are a few people I want to thank - Terry Calvert, Mark Creed, Edward Hemmings and all the members of the committee who all give up their time so generously. It really has been a case of strength through quality."
Steven offered a special thank you to the irrepressible Fellowship events organiser, Anne Herman, describing her as "a true friend."
Magicians worked the tables during dinner, and the magic continued on stage as Steven Goldsworthy was wrapped in a large black curtain and transformed into incoming president Terry Calvert.
"We're going to have some fun over the next two years," said Terry. "That's my pledge to you."
Terry also thanked Steven for doing a "fabulous job" during his two-year reign.
With so much good will - and magic stardust - in the air, the evening ended on a high, as guests mingled and gambled in a make-shift casino until midnight.
