The aim behind Truman's Gentlemen's Groomers in Norwich was to offer men a salon that fitted between the unisex hairdressers and barbers which proliferated in the city.
"We wanted to appeal to men who wanted a higher quality haircut and service than was being offers by most barbers shops, but who also wanted to visit somewhere with a masculine image," says Edward Bass, who joined co-owners Jason Howes and Alec Aldous in the business in December 2010. At this point the salon was trading as Razor Edge, but Edward felt it needed a change of direction image-wise in order to fulfil its potential as a destination salon for men.
Edward decided to look outside the barbering industry for inspiration, looking at places that men liked to hang out and thinking how these could be adapted into a salon environment.
Says Edward: "I always thought a pub was a masculine place for men to hang out, and that became the starting point for the salon's dark wood vibe."
Judging from these stunning images, no-one will be saying "time gentleman please" to the team behind Truman's Gentlemen's Groomers.
