Bristle and Creme in New York combines art, fashion and design in a unique space which houses a hair salon, boutique spa and artisan espresso bar.
By night, the salon plays host to indie acts and DJs, while exhibitions of emerging local artists are also intended to support the local community while elevating the client expereince.
Located on Third Avenue in the heart of Manhattan's Midtown East, the integrated concept space combines downtown design sensibilities with a Brooklyn edge.
The loft-style design opens with an espresso bar (Creme Café) in the front, with a full-service hair salon and boutique spa opening up as you move further into the space.
High ceilings and full-height windows flood the space with light, while muted hues enhance the feeling of space.
The salon owners explain: “Stepping into the Manhattan location feels like walking into a grand NY Soho loft living room. Brooklyn and French design influences meld together perfectly creating a beautiful integrative space. Bespoke wood carpentry work and artisan-designed ceiling tiles are enveloped in buttery hues of grays, browns and beiges. Delicate feminine details are juxtaposed in perfect unity with masculine straight lines.”
Salon founder Kim Vu provided the overall creative direction, with assistance from
Steve Lewis (whose projects include Butter restaurant) and Natalie Shook, a local designer.
Kim’s inspiration for a lifestyle, mixed-space salon came through experiences living in New York and travelling abroad, particularly concept stores like
10 Corso Como in Milan,
Colette in Paris and
Dover Street Market in London.
