The 97th Oscars, held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday 2 March 2025 were an evening of glitz, glamour and great hair. Here, Team HJ and some industry pros share their favourite looks from the night...
Margaret Qualley
This was not just an updo but an abstract, kooky and dynamic updo, just like Margaret herself. The Substance actor’s hair was crafted by celebrity hairstylist Anna Cofone using Remi Cachet and Authentic Beauty Concept’s brand new Cosmic Blow Dry Jelly.

Da'Vine Joy Randolph
There was no shortage of short styles (pardon the pun) on the red carpet at The Oscars 2025 but Da'Vine Joy Randolph's pixie cut won the night for me. Her stylist, Tai Simon, used Lush's Natural Texture haircare range to achieve a slicked-down look, finishing it with a perfectly placed swooping fringe.

Lupita Nyong’o
I loved Lupita’s coiffed updo at the 2025 Oscars! Created by celebrity hairstylist Vernon Francois, this elegant wrap loc bun combined with pearl accessories perfectly complemented the star’s dress, elevating the whole look.

Halle Berry
I loved Halle Berry’s Bell Bottom Bob. Styled in a sleek side parting, the healthy gloss on the hair perfectly complemented her mirrored Christian Siriano gown. To achieve this finish, stylist David Stanwell shared on Instagram that he used Olaplex’s No.7 Bonding Oil. It was pretty, it was playful – it’s a yes from me.

Léna Mahfouf
“On an Oscars night where sleek and glamorous are always at the fore, Léna Mahfouf stood out with her brushed out curls catching as much attention as her stunning dress. It’s refreshing to see that sleek and straight isn’t the only option available to exude glamour.”

Katy Perry
“Katy Perry’s chopping micro fringe at the Oscars was very Audrey Hepburn inspired. I think it looked great and is an easy clip-in option for a one-off rather than a permanent fixture which can be harder to maintain. I love how although the length adds an element of strength, the chopping edge and wispy updo overall make it a very soft look. It’s definitely opened up her face and given a very youthful appearance. A shorter fringe helps to elongate face shapes and shows off the eyebrows, which adds another element of shape to the face.”

Julia Fox

“Julia Fox’s look at the Oscars is so bold and creative, I love it! The way her hair blends into the dress is genius, making it feel like an extension of the whole look rather than just a separate element. The loose waves running through the fabric adds so much movement, almost like they’re floating. Her actual hair, with that soft fringe and tousled texture, keeps it cool and effortless, stopping the look from feeling too stiff or overdone. I really appreciate when hair is used as part of the overall design rather than just an accessory and this is such a clever, artistic way to do it and looks like something straight of the New York/Paris/London runway.”

Selena Gomez
“Playing on the Old Money style that’s been growing in popularity since last winter, Selena Gomez’s 2025 Oscar look leaned into the classic bob. Sleek vintage styling is always stunning for big events like the Oscars or weddings – it’s timeless for a reason. And that deep side part? It only solidifies the rumours that it’s back!”
