The Alternative Hair Show is always one of the highlights of the Salon International weekend, raising thousands of pounds for charity and presenting some spectacular hair in one very special show.
We're always blown away by the wealth of innovative hair on display, which is equal parts theatre and art. Designed to create a spectacle in the breathtaking surroundings of the Royal Albert Hall, this is no ordinary hair.
From the wet-look forms created by
TIGI to the blue-screen technology spectacular of
Sassoon, this year's show didn't disappoint in terms of theatrics. Avant-garde style was, of course, on display in abundance with looks created for the International Visionary Award and stage shows from some of the world's leading hairdressing names.
While the stage of the Royal Albert Hall is where the magic happens, backstage is where the hard work occurs. And, with a show like this, you'd better believe that there's more than one or two surprising styling tricks behind those sensational looks.
Here, we go behind the scenes at the show in some brilliant photos by Mauro Carraro.
