Aveda's Autumn/Winter 2010-11 Colour Roadshow hit London in style, with an exciting and inspirational night at super-club, Ministry of Sound.

Hosted by Aveda National Sales Manager, Lisa Jackson, the event kicked off with a motivational short film, documenting the company's green credentials, as well as their awards and achievements over the last 12 months.

Now in its third year, the roadshow launched the latest Aveda colour collection, Super Natural, to over 700 hairdressers. Over the last few seasons, Aveda have looked to the past for inspiration; but for Autumn/Winter, it's all about the future.
Inspiration came from Avatar, classic science fiction films, and modernist fashion, as well as interpretative dream paintings from the Yawanawa tribe of Brazil, who Aveda work closely with on charitable ventures

Further inspiration came from exotic, vibrant colours in nature, with purples of every hue, icy blondes, and citrus oranges proving popular.

The key looks in the collection are named after the female shamans of the Yawanawa tribe; Tata, the Shaman Elder; Vana, meaning path; Pawa, meaning sun; as well as the the sacred Sepa tree.

The resulting styles incorporate unexpected bursts of color, veiled undercuts, hidden texture, and bold makeup that invokes strong, feminine energy.

Following the launch of the collection, the audience enjoyed hair shows from Anna McCormick of Fresh Lifestyle Salon & Spa and Robert Eaton of Russell Eaton, who talked about the difficulties of opening a new salon during a recession, as well as demonstrating a cool avant garde updo.

Next, the audience was treated to a preview of the latest avant garde collection, Regency Sweet. A playful combination of historical styles and pastel hues resulted in a very Marie Antoinette-inspired collection, complete with dramatic textured hairpieces in the shape of birds and feathers, and decadent regal tones of purple throughout.

Erminio Fiocca, artistic director of the Aveda Institute, London closed the show with a dramatic cut, lopping off a model's shoulder-length locks in to a short bob, using solely thinning scissors. Although the initial snips lead to gasps of shock, the stunning final look proved that sometimes it's worth taking some risks with technique.

The show closed with a preview of Aveda's next event; MasterJam London 2011 - and if tonight's event is anything to go by, they're in for another inspirational night.
