X factor style: the over 28s' makeovers

The X Factor finalists have been chosen, which can mean only one thing. No, not that we'll finally get to hear them sing - it's all about the makeovers.

Although none of the Over 28s have had too much of a dramatic transformation, Storm Lee, Mary Byrne and John Adeleye have all been given a touch of popstar polish, for a stage-ready look.

Louise Wood, founder of L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2010 finalist salon The Hair Advice Centre, Englefield Green, reveals what she thinks of the over 28s' dramatic new looks.
The Over 28s

Storm Lee

"Oh no! I can see that they're trying to amplify Storm's rocker image, but these shocking red locks are more comic book than chart topper! The colour is far too severe, and I can't see him being taken seriously with this look, which is a real shame. I'd have much rather seen his existing style enhanced, keeping the blonde and introducing a choppy cut, which would have worked really well with his overall persona."

Mary Byrne

"Wow! Mary's locks look 100 times better. I love the cut and colour, and she does look gorgeous - but I feel like it's a little severe for her. I would have opted for a longer shag cut to bring in softness to the fringe and lengths, along with mocha highlights to lift the look - but either way she definitely does look glam."

John Adeleye

"John's look worked well before, so why change a winning formula? The edges of his cut have been sharpened up, and his hair definitely suits this closely cropped look. The overall image is very sleek - we like!"
