We know, we know, trends come back around again (case in point - the mullet) but we're not sure that these dated hairstyles and haircuts below will ever make a positive reappearance again.
There's a couple on this list that, when done well, are great examples of technical cutting skills - but the ones we've included, well, let's just say they're more 'mum's kitchen scissors' than prestigious salon.
And although we think people should be free to have whatever hairstyle they choose, these are the styles the internet thinks have gone past the point of no return.
So without further ado, may we present to you the 'worst' haircuts and hairstyles of all time...
Frosted Tips
It's giving boyband energy and 90s experiments with sun-in. We're all about naturally sun-kissed ends, but full-on lightened frosted tips ain't the one.
Stripey Highlights
What was it about the early noughties that meant stripey highlights? We know chunky highlights had a brief resurgence circa 2019, but we most stripey highlights aren't intentional and due to too much space between foils and too starkly contrasting shades.
Bowl Cut
Not to be confused with the Page Boy, which when done correctly is a softly, scalloped cut with minimal tension and natural fall to form a beautiful halo around the head, the Bowl Cut is classic 'mum's kitchen scissors' look.
The Karen
Although with roots in the Pob, the asymmetric bob with sweeping fringe beloved by Victoria Beckham circa 2007 (see below), The Karen rose to fame years after and still can be seen on the high street in 2024. Named after the viral meme Karen, to describe a upper middle class woman who is entitled, selfish, and complains a lot.
The Pob
Possibly the origins of the Karen (above), this assymetric cut came accompanied by a sweeping side fringe and back to back foils. Victoria Beckham first debuted the cut in 2007, going from shoulder-length extensions, so was a very radical departure!
Platinum Blonde and Black
Christina Aguilera is the poster girl for this look! Remember her video for Dirrty where she had platinum blonde hair with black and red highlights running through.
Curtains
This look, which is parted gently in the middle (like a pair of curtains), was first popularised in the late 80s, early 90s. It's seen many different iterations from Leonardo diCaprio in Romeo and Juliet (a great example) to Timothée Chalamet in more recent times. To give this a more modern spin, hair length should be a little longer than our friend below...
00s Mohican
It's another entry for the Beckhams - sorry David and Victoria. We applaud David for his experimentation when it comes to his hair, but this has got to be a style that should never be repeated, if only for the grow-out phase alone.
