Thanks to Prince William and Kate Middleton's happy announcement, wedding fever is definitely in the air. To celebrate, we take a look back at some of the best celebrity wedding hairstyles of all time.Louise Wood, Bridal hair expert and founder of L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2010 finalist salon, The Hair Advice Centre, Englefield Green, reveals what she loves about some of the most iconic bridal looks to date.
When Audrey Hepburn married Mel Ferrer in 1954, she opted for a Balmain dress and flowers in her hair.
"Screen siren Audrey Hepburn has always been a style icon, and her cute pixie cut is gorgeous and still on-tend to this day," says Louise.
" think people expect brides to have long hair, and this proves that short styles can be just as beautiful."
"To give it a more modern twist, I'd swap the roses for a diamante clip or a thin band tiara."
Mia Farrow is another bride who dared to go short for her big day.
And although we love her crop, when Mia wed Frank Sinatra in 1966, he famously remarked, "I didn't realise I was marrying a little boy."
Louise says, "I love this look! It epitomises the 60s and is stylish without the need for accessories."
"This simple cut looks gorgeous on Mia and would suit anyone that's petite with elfin features."
"For a bride today, I would add a thin but delicate band of crystals to show off her structured styling but all in all one of my favourites!"
When actress Bianca Perez Morena de Macias married Mick Jagger in 1971, she famously wore a white suit, rather than a wedding dress.
"The 70s style big blowout is a gorgeous bridal 'undone' look," says Louise, "and I love the quirkiness of the hat."
"I always think bridal looks shouldn't be too contrived, and Bianca's effortlessly glamorous waves are still a top trend for brides' big days now!"
"For those that find the hat a step too far I'd recommend pinning a big silk flower on the side, which will complement the 70s style beautifully.
When fashionista Gwen Stefani married rocker Gavin Rossdale, it was never going to be a subtle affair.
From her pink dip-dye John Galliano dress to the bright blue Rolls Royce she rocked up in, this was always going be a unique wedding.
"Gwen's hair is funky, trendy and very 'her', making it the perfect pick for the 'quirky' bride," says Louise.
"I'm not too sure about the accessories, as I don't know if the traditional princess-like veil is very fitting for the look or her personality."
"I'd recommend a band with feathers to add some of the edge that Gwen is so well known for, but I can definitely see why it has gone down as an iconic look."
Victoria and David Beckham have always been fashion icons, and their wedding day in July 1999 proved their style credentials.
"I love this short hair," says Louise. "It suits Victoria's small frame so well ,and doesn't look dated; nothing needs changing!"
"I like the fact that she stayed with her day-to-day look, but upped the glam - the perfect way to do bridal style!"
"It would look cute with a short shoulder-length 50s veil at the back to enhance her short spiky haircut, but again it's a great take on a more adventurous bridal 'do."
