Sassoon future creatives prove a class act
It's always great to catch a glimpse of what the hair industry's future talent have to offer, so it was no surprise that the Salon Live theatre was filled to the brim with eager stylists waiting to see what the Sassoon Future Creatives show would hold.
But it was an established favourite - British Hairdresser of the Year nominee Mark Hayes, Sassoon's international creative director - who opened the show. "You will see the next generation of hairdressers to look out for," he told the expectant audience.
The upcoming stars took to the stage to colour hair in the respected Sassoon style, while using techniques from the latest Sassoon collection 'abc Colouring Hair The Sassoon way'.
The colourists talked through their looks which included blood red teamed with blue and greens, and soft greys sitting next to soft pink, rose petal shades for futuristic colour combinations.
With a break in technical proceedings, the colourists left the stage so that their looks could develop while a sensational stage show took place featuring neat blonde crops teamed with glitter-ball accessories that hit the laser lights and created a stunning, shimmering effect that dazzled the audience.
Models wearing futuristic, 50s dresses and painted with dark blue lips then appeared sporting short crops with subtle disconnection and a beautiful, disconnected style that almost looked like a lighter-then-air, designer hat.
UK creative director Bruce Masefield then took to the stage to introduce The Future Creatives Cutting Team who created soft delicate looks inspired by the Dada Dolls collection.
The styles included modern men's fringes, disconnected crowns, beautiful crops and asymmetric fringes. Each style was unusual and unique yet retained its wearable feeling.
The show finished with another live segment that included brightly coloured suits, peekaboo fringes, curly side-quiffs, gentle mesh dresses, soft afro styles and the pretty blonde crops that had been an ongoing theme throughout the whole show.
After a grand finale where the cutting and colouring teams returned to the stage with their show models it was clear that the simple styling and classic looks with a twist, made the Sassoon show a class act.
