Sassoon future creatives marry colour and cutting

Bubbling just below the service of any great creative organisation is the next generation of talent that will take the brand and, in the case of Sassoon, the world of hairdressing to the next level.

At the Sassoon Future Creatives by Sassoon Academy show at Salon Live this next generation - already accomplished cutters and colourists, but not quite icons of the industry - clearly demonstrated why they are being heralded as the next big thing.

Future-Creatives-Mark-Hayes.jpgInternational Creative director, Mark Hayes, kicked off proceedings, but for once he wasn't holding a pair of scissors.

"This morning is all about the future, which is why I'm not cutting," he told the audience.

The Future Creatives colour team took to the stage first, talking confidently about the relationship between colour and cut, and how colour can be used to create shape and structure as much as cutting techniques.

Future-Creatives-pic2.jpgHues used to do this included graduations of charcoal, violet and silver; clean blonde, slate grey and aqua marine; and navy blue, intense violet and cherry red.

The cutting team was equally impressive, using the precision techniques associated with Sassoon to create beautiful slim silhouettes - disconnection has never looked so good.

The teams may have presented separately, but the overriding message was that it is the marriage of cut and colour that will ensure beautiful looks remain the signature of Sassoon well into the future.

Key Look

As you'd expect from a Sassoon show, precision-cut bobs and strong geometric shapes were the definining hairstyles of the presentation.
