Salon Interiors: Calm and Collected

Salon Interiors: Calm and Collected

With a combined 28 years of industry experience, Paula Pop and Szindy Ballai found a shared passion for establishing something of their own. The founders of GLAMHAIR Studio in South West London wanted to create a space that was independent, personal and aligned with the values they felt were missing in the wider industry. “We wanted a space that was more versatile, more reflective of our vision, and something that felt truly different,” they shared.

Inside GLAMHAIR

It’s a space that was borne out of a collaborative effort and a shared vision. They gathered inspiration online and quickly realised that their  ideas both leaned towards a minimal, earthy, and timeless design. “If something was important to one of us, the other supported it. It was a real collaboration, and that teamwork shows in the final result.” Their differing perspectives became a strength, adding depth and character to the design whilst keeping the client experience front and centre throughout every stage from lighting to layout. This was essential in shaping how the space feels and functions.

Every detail from the soft, ambient lighting to the calming diffusers and custom headrests, have been chosen with durability, function and aesthetics in mind. Intentionally designed to feel like a mini retreat, the salon aims to offer a true break in the client’s day. The earthy neutrals, soft creams, whites, and golds, create a light, calming, and welcoming space – and the warmth means it never feels bland or clinical.

Here’s to the rule breakers!

The salon features four backwashes in a softer and more enclosed area of the salon, followed by 12 styling stations each paired with custom made mirrors designed by Salon Business Centre. The warm lighting from the bespoke mirrors generates the perfect glow that when combined with the natural light from above creates the perfect balance of practical and ambient lighting.

Overall, Szindy and Paula love what they’ve created. “We designed the space for people who care about quality, individuality, and having a premium experience, without the intimidation that sometimes comes with more traditional luxury salons,” they tell us. “We don’t follow trends or fit a mould, and that’s somethingthat resonates with a wide and diverse clientele.” Here’s to the rule breakers!
