It was another of red carpet glamour at the 2012 Critic's Choice Awards, which marked achievement in film throughout the last year.
We asked Martin Crean of Mode, Chipping Campden to give his opinion on the the hairstyle hits and misses from the A-list attendees.
Viola Davis
Crops can be chic and elegant or edgy and urban but this is neither and really doesn't excite me. I'd like to see more of a asymmetric fringe with a sharper geometric edge to create more of a 'look.' Gorgeous shine though.
Tilda Swinton
Oh Tilda, where to begin! I love androgynous style but Tilda's close crop and slick fringe look rather odd and do nothing for her face shape. I'd love to see Tilda with a 60s style Sassoon bob with pixie fringe which would frame her face and give a slightly more feminine touch whilst still retaining her alternative style.
Busy Philips
Busy Philips looks very elegant with hair swept up into a messy high chignon and I love that she has added a quiff to keep it looking contemporary to suit her young style
Chloe Moretz
Chloe's hair is a lovely natural colour which is perfect for her young age. The slight curl at the front and a side section gathered above the ear, frames her heart shaped face perfectly and is a breath of fresh air for the red carpet.
Charlize Theron
This is a modern take on a Grecian plaited chignon, which is often avoided as it is perceived as old-fashioned but Charlize works it as a chic, understated glamorous look. That said, I would like to her add some more champagne highlights as her roots look neglected rather than 'undone'.
Elizabeth Olsen
Elizabeth looks naturally glamorous with her gorgeous tumbling blonde curls. The side parting adds a feminine and soft touch to her look but I would like to see a warmer caramel blonde throughout to pick up her skin tone.
Elle Fanning
I do love a boho wave but Elle looks like she has forgotten to brush her hair before she has left the house. I think she needs to trim at least 2-3 cm from the length to get her hair back into peak condition and red carpet ready.
Michelle Williams
Michelle can do effortless chic without even thinking about it. I love her short pixie crop, which looks stylish and elegant. It's recently been beautifully enhanced with this gorgeous copper caramel tone; she really is the belle of the ball.
Diane Kruger
I normally love Diane's red carpet style but this is too shabby without being chic - it looks like she has just left the gym. With quite a large forehead, Diane's hair should correct this rather than accentuate it with a soft textured fringe.
Evan Rachel Wood
It's ironic these are the Critics Choice Awards as I am feel I'm criticising all of the attendees! That said, I can't quite understand what look Evan was going for here. It's reminiscent of pop bands like Steps and S Club 7 in the 90s - an era I don't think we need to revisit in a hurry.
Kirsten Dunst
This isn't the most flattering look for Kirsten as she looks like she has very quickly tried to create a tousled style but has ended up with a bit of a mess. This style could be easily groomed into a lovely side chignon with a series of plaits and knots for intricate detail but Kirsten's style looks like it has been slept in.
Emma Stone
Emma's colour is beautiful against her skin tone and the warm reddish brown sets of her green eyes perfectly. The side parting and swept-up style give a nod to the glamourous occasion while still keeping a relaxed feel to the look.
