Public misconceptions are damaging my new salon. please help!
Me and my partner opened a salon in November it's beautiful and we are both so proud.
However, we have 2 main threats. Although we are a fully commercial salon, employing experienced stylists only, we are based in a building used by the local college and high school. (it's complicated, but it works.) Also we are not visible from the road and the building is very new.
We have been doing some promotions with local businesses but they are reluctant to try us because they are convinced that they will have students diong their hair. also we are desperately trying to let people know we are here.
Unfortunately we are on a limited budget, we spent a lot on leaflets letting people know that we are open for business, but realised too late that the "students doing hair" problem is more serious than we anticipated.
We are really struggling for ideas to let people know that we are here and let them know that we are fully qualified, very experienced stylists and that their hair would never be done by a student in our salon.
We have tried free pamper evenings for the staff from local businesses(kind of like a blowdry party?) but only one group was interested and booked but didn't turn up. We're even struggling to get people in by offering free blowdries.
We are really at a loss and are desperate for some ideas.
