UNITE Hair style Helmut Lang Spring/Summer 2014 Paul Hanlon created masculine 90s styles for the Helmut Lang Spring/Summer 2014 show at New York Fashion Week. Show: Helmut Lang Stylist: Paul Hanlon for Unite The inspiration: The designer's early 90s collections. The look: Well-groomed, polished and sophisticated with a masculine edge. "The collection is more casual than we've seen the designer create in the past few years," said Paul, "So it was really important that the hair remained strong and polished to elevate the overall design. We really played with androgyny and the masculinity and precision of the style is amplified by a bespoke leather ponytail fastener, created by the designer." Get the look: Apply Unite Session Whip to wet hair and add 7 Seconds Leave-in Conditioner to dampen the hair down and build shine and hold. Using a bristle brush, blow dry the hair straight then use Unite Max Control Hairspray to spray from the root to mid-lengths which will create a really strong hold with a soft sheen, rather than a wet-look shine. Create a straight, side part in the hair and re-blow dry with a bristle brush to ensure that hair stays in place. Gather the hair and fasten with a tie at the base of the neck. Loosen the tie and pull down to the collar. Finish the look by adding a leather casing to the ponytail, covering the tie, then softly blowing the ponytail to lift the hair, adding a hint of texture and softness. Key products: Unite Session Whip, 7 Seconds Leave-In Conditioner, Max Control Hairspray
