Hairdressers Journal and Professional Beauty are joining forces to launch major new industry campaign “At The Heart Of The Community”, designed to help the salon sector loudly demonstrate its vital economic and community value.

The initiative arrives at a critical time for salon owners across the UK who are navigating unprecedented operational and cost pressures.

The campaign aims to shift the narrative around the industry by loudly celebrating salons and clinics not just as lifestyle spaces, but as foundational community anchors, critical drivers of high street footfall, and major creators of local employment.

Rather than acting in isolation, Professional Beauty Group’s mission is to amplify and celebrate the excellent advocacy work already being spearheaded by industry bodies, including the the National Hair & Beauty Federation, British Hair Consortium, British Beauty Council and Salon Employers Association.

Free digital toolkits and high street visibility assets

To ensure every business owner can actively participate, the campaign will provide a suite of free, professional marketing assets designed to boost local visibility:

Social media kit: Salons will gain access to free, customisable graphic templates and professionally written suggested captions to showcase their business value to clients online.

Window displays: Free physical window transfers and display assets will be made available to help businesses catch the eyes of passersby and reinforce their role on the high street.

Political lobbying and operational support

Beyond consumer-facing marketing, the campaign will equip salon owners with the tools needed to demand structural change from local and national government representation.

Professional Beauty Group will supply formal, pre-drafted letter templates that therapists and business owners can use to easily write to their local MPs or councils to highlight the direct impact of current business rates, energy costs, and tax burdens on local commerce.

Alongside political lobbying, the initiative will act as a hub for industry knowledge-sharing.

How can salons get involved in the At The Heart Of The Community campaign?

As a vital first step in this campaign, the Professional Beauty Group has commissioned a series of professionally designed campaign assets – and we want the industry to shape the final look.

Before we roll these out nationwide, we are calling on all beauty and hair professionals to have your say. We want to know which design concepts speak loudest to you, which ones will best resonate with your clients, and which assets you would be proud to display in your salon windows and across your social media channels.

Your feedback is crucial to ensuring this campaign delivers the maximum possible impact on your high street. We have launched a voting poll below where you can view the design options and cast your vote on your preferred style.
