Allen Ruiz created street-style braids for the Ann Yee Spring/Summer 2014 show at New York Fashion Week.
Show: Ann Yee
Stylist: Allen Ruiz for Aveda
The inspiration: "Urban street style colliding with shiny, modern elegance," said Allen.
The look: Braided sections on either side of the hair with sleek lengths.
Get the look: Mist dry hair with Aveda Pure Abundance Style Prep and blow dry straight with a round brush. This will add the texture and grip needed to create this look.
Separate out three sections of hair (left, middle, right) and prep the two side sections with Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam to ensure a clean look that adds shine without build up or weight.
Carefully begin to gather hair from the temple and form a tight, delicate braid down to the nape of the neck. Secure with a clear hair tie. Repeat on the other side and tie both sections together at the nape of the neck.
Gather the top half of the middle section of hair and begin to roll and pin into a structured twist that kisses the braid just behind the ear.
Flat iron the remainder of hair to fall over the shoulders and hair tie. Use Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray to smooth hair into place for a firm, long lasting hold. Finish the look with a fine mist of Aveda Brilliant Spray on Shine to eliminate flyaways.
