Curls, Coils & Cashflow to Empower Textured Hair Stylists This Black History Month in London

Mane Hook-Up and Let’s Grow BFF will host Curls, Coils & Cashflow, a one-day Black History Month event designed to equip textured hair stylists with business skills, wellness tools, and community support.

Curls, Coils and Cashflow

This October, Mane Hook-Up & Let’s Grow BFF are proud to announce “Curls, Coils & Cashflow”  a groundbreaking one-day event spotlighting textured hair stylists and beauty entrepreneurs during Black History Month. Taking place in London, the experience is dedicated to financial empowerment, education, and community connection for one of the most culturally significant, yet overlooked, industries in the UK and beyond.

The event is built around three principles: Business & Wealth, Wellness, and Community Impact. From live panels and hands-on demos to wellness activations and intimate breakout sessions, Curls, Coils & Cashflow aims to support stylists in building sustainable careers while amplifying Black-owned beauty and wellness brands.

Event Details:

  • 📍 Location: Sta Studios, London
  • 📅 Date: 5th October 2025
  • 🎟 Attendance: 90+ guests including stylists, founders, creatives, and media
  • 🔗 For media passes, interviews or sponsorship enquiries, contact: [email protected]

Behind the Chair to CEO

A central moment of the day is the “From Behind the Chair to CEO” Pitch Competition, where selected stylists will present their business ideas to a panel of expert judges, with the opportunity to win financial support and mentorship to accelerate their growth.

“Hair stylists are often the first entrepreneurs in our families - trusted, talented, and deeply connected to community. But they’re rarely given access to the kind of networks, resources or investment that can help them scale. This event is about changing that," says Jade Buffong-Phillips, Founder, Mane Hook-Up

Mane Hook-Up has partnered with Let’s Grow BFF to deliver this initiative, with support from leading sponsors, wellness brands, and community-driven organisations. Let's GROW BFF is a global organisation focused on empowering Black female founders. The company is led by CEO and Founder Jo Wong and offers programmes and services to support entrepreneurs in building, scaling, and leading successful businesses. With an expected audience of over 90 stylists, founders, creators, and investors, the event offers meaningful visibility and partnership opportunities for brands committed to equity in the beauty and wellness space.

Curls, Coils & Cashflow will also shine a light on mental health, financial literacy, and community care, acknowledging the emotional and financial labour stylists carry in both their work and their communities.

Want to Apply to Speak?

Jade is currently welcoming speaker applications from industry leaders, experienced stylists, entrepreneurs, and wellness advocates who want to share insights that support the financial growth, well-being, and community building of textured hair professionals. If you have a story, strategy, or lesson that could inspire or educate our audience, complete the speaker application form or email [email protected] with the subject line 'Speaker Application' and include a short bio, your topic idea, and any relevant experience.

Got a Pitch?

The first-ever Stylist Pitch Competition, gives independent textured hair stylists the chance to showcase their business ideas and win tailored support to take their careers to the next level. Finalists will pitch their vision live at the event in front of an expert panel and audience of peers, and the winner will receive a prize package including mentoring, business tools, and brand exposure.

Stylists interested in applying can submit a short application by 31st August.

Curls, Coils & Cashflow is actively seeking sponsors who are aligned with their mission of building financial stability and ownership in the textured hair industry. Whether you’re a brand looking to connect directly with independent stylists or an organisation passionate about supporting Black entrepreneurs, this is a meaningful opportunity to make an impact. To explore sponsorship opportunities, email [email protected] with the subject line 'Sponsorship: Culs, Coils & Cashflow' and the team will share the full partnership deck and options available.
