2023 has been a year full of trends. We’ve had trending cuts, colours, styles, and even accessories. So, it should come as no surprise, that we’re in for another big one, just before we head into 2024. And it fits in perfectly with the winter vibes. Think cosy winter nights on the sofa, beige blankets, and creamy hot chocolate with marshmallows… but hair colour.
Introducing Linen Blonde…
What is Linen Blonde?
This new trending shade, only recently emerged, is a great colour choice for those blonde clients who are looking for lower maintenance through the winter, but want to keep their look light, bright, and fresh. “It’s a kinder blonde that looks more natural and is full of depth and dimension due to the varied tones throughout,” says Kirsty Judge, RUSH Workshop Team. And as the name suggests: “The colour looks much like linen fabrics, with a beige/neutral toned base, and lighter, creamier hues and darker taupe tones lightly pieced throughout to break the hair up and give it more texture,” adds Kirsty.
And the great thing about this colour, is that it can be adapted to suit each client’s skin tone to complement their complexion. “Beige tones are a mixture of ash and golden tones,” says Carolyn Newman, International Educator and Colour Expert, “so you can adjust this shade to suit cool or warm skin tones. Cool will contain more creamy blonde tones, and warm will have more soft honey tones.”
But why is this look on the rise this season? “Many blondes come into the salon stuck on how they can change up their blonde when they’re looking for a change, and this is a great trend for them to do that,” explains Kirsty. So, those blonde client’s looking for that ‘new year, new hair, new me’ moment – linen blonde is the perfect shade for them to switch up their look.
Maintaining The Look
As always, lightened and coloured hair needs as much care and maintenance as possible, so it’s important to recommend the right products to your linen blonde clients. “A colour saving shampoo and conditioner should be used to keep the colour looking vibrant and long-lasting,” says Kirsty. Furthermore, Carolyn suggests: “Keep it looking fresh with pearl-coloured masks and toners to maintain the shine.”
So, as we head further into winter, and clients take to the chair for those ‘new year’ looks, linen blonde is the trending shade set to carry us through to 2024. And we have a feeling, it’s going to be just one of many.
