Legendary hairdresser vidal sassoon dies at the age of 84
Legendary hairdresser Vidal Sassoon has died at the age of 84.
Vidal, who had been suffering from leukaemia, died at his home in Beverly Hills, with his wife Ronnie by his side.
Vidal was responsible for changing the way hair was cut and styled in the 1960s, with his revolutionary five-point cut which he created at his eponymous Bond Street salon.
His passion, infectious personality and dedication saw him travel the world and demand more column inches than any other hairdresser.
Styles such as The Goddess, and geometric styles on stars Mia Farrow, Jean Shrimpton and Grace Coddington catapulted him to worldwide fame - and opened up a whole new world of exciting opportunities for hairdressers.
Today, his architectural-inspired lines and cutting disciplines are taught around the world and his methods are held in high esteem.
Last year saw a documentary bring his visions, dreams and memories to a new audience, inspiring a whole new generation with his passion, enthusiasm and love of the craft. While the industry has lost one of its greats, his legacy will live on forever.
