L'oréal professionnel colour trophy 2010 winners!

The Grand Final of the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy returned home to the Grosvenor House Hotel for a night of entertainment, high fashion, stunning hair shows, and a celebration of some of the most talented hairdressers in the country.

The Great Room was transformed to resemble a London Fashion Week venue, complete with a huge crucifix-shaped catwalk that dominated the room and reminded everyone of the Colour Trophy mantra 'hair inspired by fashion'.

The action began with a set from London's top female DJ, Nikki Beatnik, who belted a popular mix of 80s dance and modern classics, then it was over to the evening's host, the delectable George Lamb, to take charge.

"After last night's match, I wasn't sure whether to come today, but I am here and do you know why? Because you're worth it!" he told the guests as he took to the stage.

"This is one of the biggest, most extravagant nights in the hairdressing calendar and the industry's most fashion-conscious live hair competition."

The art teams from TONI&GUY and BROOKS+BROOKS provided stunning hair shows that each featured a trio of segments that varied from TONI&GUY'S wiggy blonde disconnected creations that were infused with a spectrum of colours to BROOKS+BROOKS monochrome reinterpretation of the Mad Hatters tea party.

And six of the Britain's Next Top Model models also took to the catwalk with tresses styled by Daniel Galvin and his team and accompanied by the soulful tones of young songstress Misty Miller and her ukelele.

But while the evening celebrated hairdressing's intrinsic relationship with fashion, the key focus was, of course, on who would win the four prestigious competitions: The L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy, the Men's Image Award, the Young Colourist Award in association with HJ and the Mizani Afro Catwalk Award.

There was much excitement when Elements in Teddington was named winner of the Mizani Afro Catwalk Look Award for its edgy flat-top and when Ayesha Caton of Mack Chelmsford was announded the winner of the Young Colourist Awards for her on-trend rust crop. 

The Men's Image Award was of a particularly high standard and Dublin salon owner Dylan Bradshaw told guests that judging it had been "really tough with lots of arguments and debates" before announcing that the runner up was Trevor Sorbie, Covent Garden. It was edged out by TONI&GUY Guildford who created an asymmetric crop with a sweeping multi-tonal blonde fringe.

Finally it was time for the evening's main award; the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy and the big winner was Abacus Hair in Bewdley, while the runners up wer Cutting Crew in Willesden Green and John Gillespie in Perth.

"It's been a long time coming, but we're absolutely delighted," the winning team from Abacus told HJi as they celebrated with their model whose dramatic page-boy cut was enhanced a high shine brunette with subtle lowlights.
