Trevor Sorbie art director, Johanna Cree Brown, has shot two covers and an editorial for XOXO Magazine. The top session stylist worked with photographer Grant Thomas, makeup artist Alex Byrne and stylist Kieran Partise on the shoot, which was inspired by 90s grunge. Johanna explains:
Grant’s idea with Kieran was to create a cool editorial referencing the 90s film True Romance. They loved the grunge feel so we went for a dirty hair look. I cut the black wig specially for model Dionne to look cool and bit masculine with thick shaped sides and with the other model, Valerie, I braided the hair before ironing in to add texture. I used a mixture of gel and Tecni.Art Pli for Dionne's wig and tons of Beach Fizz for Valerie's. We shot in a hotel in Kensington, which was super grimy and completely authentic and hadn’t been done up since the 1950s! Multi-media artist Roger Spy, who I've collaborated with previously, shot a lovely film of it too.
