Is 70s rockstar hair set for a revival following daisy jones & the six?
Following the launch of the much-anticipated television adaptation of Daisy Jones & The Six written by Taylor Jenkins Reid, 70s rockstar hair, fashion and makeup have resurfaced again. In fact, Google Searches for ‘70s Rockstar Hair” has increased by a whopping +100% within the last week alone. So does this mean the iconic 70s rockstar hair for men could be set for a revival? [caption id="attachment_95404" align="alignnone" width="700"] Lacey Terrell/Prime Video[/caption] Andrew Vassiliou, Hair Expert at Chris & Sons says, “Pop culture has always had a strong hold over fashion and beauty trends. However, more recently, popular television shows on platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime are having more of an impression than ever.” “Many current TV shows are set in the past, either in the 80s, 90s, or 00s, as well as the Regency era, which recently had a surge in popularity due to Bridgeton. These shows are creating a sense of nostalgia for those watching, which is why they have influenced so many trends since their debut. This will be no different for Daisy Jones & The Six which is set in the 70s, so expect to see an increase in demand for 70s fashion, beauty and hair trends.”

Andrew's Top Tips for helping your clients ‘rock’ the 70’s Rockstar Hair

Andrew Vassiliou, Hair Expert at Chris & Sons says, “The ‘Shag’ haircut is inspired by the retro rock ‘n’ roll look. This look is a laid-back type of hairstyle that can be styled every day." So how here's how you can bring this popular 70s style into the '20s and onto the high street...
  • Consider your hair type. Shaggy hair will need different treatments depending on your natural hair type. There is more volume in wavy and curly hair than in straight hair. Taking advantage of your hair's natural volume and texture is easy with a curl cream and air-drying. Whereas straight hair will benefit from a mousse or styling cream on damp hair before blow-drying. Finally. if you have fine hair, you can increase its volume of it by partially drying it and scrunching sections upward.
  • Cut according to your face shape. Shag cuts complement a variety of face shapes but it is important to see which style suits you the most. The most important thing you should consider is how your shag hangs along your cheeks when styling it. For those with a round face, side-swept bangs and dramatic layers will look the best as the differing hair lengths will soften and elongate the face. Short hair looks, such as shag bobs and pixie cuts, also suit round faces by framing the cheekbones. For long face shapes, curtain bangs and soft waves balance out angular features and create a face-framing effect.
  • Apply a texturising spray. The 70s rockstar hair has a modern twist with the shag haircut and texture plays a big part in this. To create that tousled and voluminous look, apply a seat salt spray as this will enhance the natural texture of wavy hair. Thin hair will benefit from a mousse because this will add volume and minimise frizz. If you have a curly shag haircut with layers, a styling cream will help define these and add to that choppy shag look. Finally, to style a shag haircut with thick hair spritz a texturising spray and run your fingers through your locks.
  • Blow-dry your bangs. Loose bangs are another signature element of the shag style. For straight shags or shaggy bobs, we recommend using a blow-dryer and round brush to blow out bangs to create the classic fringe look. If you have a wavy shag, use a curling iron to touch up your bangs and create a slight twist.
