Interiors inspiration: royals hair, sydney The opportunity to relocate premises was the perfect chance for Mary and Adam Alamine and their Royals’ team to bring to life a long-held vision for their salon and to truly embrace their love of Moroccan influence! [hji-gallery-legacy] With a friend happy to import distinctive, bright and intriguing pieces from Morocco, the new salon took shape quickly with genuine Moroccan doors adorning the ceiling, plates hanging on the walls, and ornate lamps and metallic grills greeting visitors upon entry. “Mary and I share a love for the Moroccan design and we wanted a space that was authentic. We wanted real pieces from Morocco with a distinct ‘imperfect beauty’ so we steered clear of polished finishes and relied heavily on reclaimed timber, handmade pieces and lots of original, unique items from Morocco.” Having occupied space in the convenience of the Castle Towers shopping centre since 2007, it was time for a move to another area of the centre and really accentuate their take on the Moroccan style that underpins their salon interiors and hospitality, which stems from Adam’s heritage. “If you’ve travelled to Morocco, Tunisia or Algeria you would know about their legendary hospitality and we wanted to infuse that culture of warmth and love into the salon. Clients come to you to have their hair done but they should also feel like honoured guests throughout their visit. They should leave feeling renewed and rejuvenated and crave their next visit to your salon,” says Adam Alamine, co-owner of Royals Hair with wife Mary. "We were so excited to unveil the new space; it’s very unique, and has layers of detail on detail, we definitely didn’t apply the less is more rule to this new design which has helped our salon culture of warmth and family to evolve.” According to the stylish duo, having a well-presented and uniquely designed salon is all about being authentic to the ethos of your salon, and ensuring it is a versatile space which is comfortable to be in for both team members and clients. “Over the years, we’ve learned that your salon space needs to combine practicality and design authentic to your business, while enhancing staff productivity, increasing retail sales, encouraging people through the door and it needs to be conducive to a relaxing and warm environment. Practical and aesthetically pleasing.” And to top it off – the salon honours their commitment to the environment, using reclaimed materials throughout the salon, energy efficient appliances, energy efficient LED lighting and Ecoheads at the basins. They recycle foil and make sure all waste is properly separated and disposed of. “We’re really proud of the beautiful space and salon we’ve created which sits perfectly alongside our foundation which is built on an educational platform for our teams who are the backbone of Royals so our work and generosity is always top tier. Our culture in the salon is one of warmth, love and genuine hospitality,” says Adam.
