Hsbc funding helps the london hairdressing apprenticeship academy The drop in hairdressing apprentice numbers is currently a cause for concern for everyone in the industry. However, The London Hairdressing Apprenticeship Academy is hoping to help train more up and coming hairdressing apprentices with their new facility in Croydon. The London Hairdressing Apprenticeship Academy has opened its fifth academy at a site in central Croydon, with the help of a £200,000 funding package from HSBC. The new academy, which is a centre for Rush apprentice education will be able to train 200 apprentices a year, with this hopefully leading to approximately 160 new jobs each year for the local area. Using the £200,000 of funding, owners Francine and Trevor Luker have refurbished the new premises, purchasing state of the art hairdressing and barbering equipment and rebranding the building. Stephen Carr of HSBC, said on the academy: “This is the third academy we’ve helped London Hairdressing Apprenticeship Academy open, previously supporting their Camden and Chiswick sites. It’s great to see Trevor and Francine’s business going from strength-to-strength. This is a sizeable academy where they’ll be able to train a substantial number of apprentices each year, adding to the 620 they’re already training across their other four sites.” Trevor Luker, co-owner of the LHAA, said: “It’s great to have HSBC on board again to help us open another academy and realise our growth plans. We already have over 100 apprentices enrolled on hairdressing courses. Each apprenticeship is supported by employment so thus far 100 new jobs have been created.”
