How to create a futuristic party look with stylers

The ghd Midnight Collection is twelve professional looks all inspired by the Autumn/Winter 2010 catwalk shows and created using the new ghd Gold Classic styler.

Here is how you can create a Princess Leia-inspired party look using your stylers.

Step OneStep Two
Step One: Take a centre parting from the front of the hair to the nape, and a second parting from crown to ears. From the nape take a 2cm horizontal section then a 2cm vertical sub section. Place the styler vertically at the root and rotate 180 degrees. Glide through, then rotate and repeat towards the crown.Step Two: Working from the parting, take a horizontal section 2cm deep above the ear.
Step ThreeStep Four
Step Three: Place the iron horizontally at the root with your thumb on top. Rotate 180 degrees and glide through the hair, then rotate 180 degrees in the opposite direction and repeat. Continue this process to complete the section.Step Four: Take a centre parting to the crown. On the left-hand side, take a diagonal parting from the crown to the temple.
Step FiveStep Six
Step Five: Take the sectioned panel and back brush from roots to ends. This will help support, lift and add structure to the finished look. Soft brush the top of the panel to smooth. Gather the whole panel and roll up to the centre parting and clip away for the time being.Step Six: Starting at the left back, directly under the previous panel close to the middle of the head, take a small rectangular section 2cm deep and do a three-stem braid. Secure the ends with a covered elastic then coil the plait flat to the scalp and secure with a pin. Add a synthetic hair pad to the coiled braid and secure with a pin.
Step SevenStep Eight
Step Seven: Return to the front left panel and start to fold the back brushed panel around the hair pad, shaping the panel with your free hand to the desired shape. Twist the hair under the hair pad and secure with a pin leaving the ends out. Wrap the ends of the top panel around the remainder of the side panel creating a low side ponytail and secure with a pin. Check the desired shape. Step Eight: For the right-hand side, take a diagonal parting from crown to temple. Then repeat steps five to six. For added definition on each of the front side panels leave a thin section, approximately 0.5cm to 1cm wide, to lay over the back brushed sections to add more wave definition to the finished look. Once complete, check the symmetry.
Step NineStep Ten
Step Nine: From the back left section take a small piece of hair and wrap it around the base of the left side ponytail to add more structure. Secure with a pin. Repeat for the right ponytail and secure with a pin.Step Ten: With the remainder of the back section do a three-stem braid and secure at the ends with a covered elastic. Coil the braid flat to the root at the nape and secure with a pin.
Step ElevenStep Twelve
Step Eleven: Add a pre-prepared hair weft to the coiled braid (the weft is to be prepared in the same way as the rest of the hair with a summer wave). Secure the weft by sewing it to the braid with a darning needle and cotton.Step Twelve: Split the weft in three then take the top section and split into two. Wrap one piece under the remainder of the weft and around the base to create a ponytail at the back. With the remainder, split again into two and cross left over the right. Take the right-hand piece of hair and wrap it around the base of the right-hand ponytail and secure with a pin. Repeat this for the left-hand ponytail. Check the final look, personalising where needed. For a defined wave finish, use your fingers to lightly dress the top section.
