The music highlight of the month - Capital's Jingle Bell Ball - took place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December, at the O2 Arena in London. With a star-studded line-up performing across the two days, there were countless stage styles to dissect post-show. However, to get the inside scoop on how the Jingle Bell Ball hair looks were created, HJ headed straight to the session stylists themselves...
Roman Kemp, styled by Luke Benson
Men's session stylist and groomer, Luke Benson, regularly works with Capital DJ Roman Kemp, and with Roman helping to present the show, Luke had his work cut out for him. He shares: "The Jingle Bell Ball is a really important event for Roman, and making him look good feels like a huge responsibility for both myself and his stylist. We held off cutting his hair for a good few months - I wanted to grow it out a bit so I could almost 'start again' for this event.

Eliza Rose, styled by Solomon Christian
We also caught up with freelance stylist Solomon Christian, who helped get Eliza Rose ready for her performance. They said: "The direction for Eliza’s Jingle Bell Ball hair was to reference the past, but to also imagine the future. I put together an eclectic mix of research, including inspiration from 60’s hairstyles like the beehive and bouffant, to otherworldly sci-fi hairstyles from movies such as Mars Attack. All of this but make is Christmas! The final inspiration came from seeing a Christmas tree wig by Hyungsun Ju @shonju for Katy Perry which tied it all together. "I created this wig in under half a day as the turnaround was super tight. I applied methods I learnt from the drag world, like wig stacking, along with using materials not commonly used in traditional hairdressing. All styling products were Schwarzkopf Got2b - a personal favourite for my structural creations. "The Jingle Bell Ball was an exciting opportunity to see my creativity displayed to such a large audience."
Ella Henderson, styled by Lisa Laudat
Having worked with Ella since her debut music video, Ghost, Lisa also had the opportunity to style the singer's hair for the Jingle Bell Ball. She explains: "When it came to the show, she was wearing a white suit, so I decided that beautiful, glossy hair would be the way to go. It’s always a winner, and there was also a touch of 70s inspiration.

Rio Fredrika, styled by Kris Barnes
Opening the Jingle Ball Ball this year was Captial Radio's DJ Rio Fredrika, who enlisted Kris Barnes to help get her stage-ready. He shared: "For Rio’s Jingle Bell Ball looks this year, we wanted to try something slightly different, so I custom coloured 18” human hair tapes to add extra length. I also ensured that both her hair and the added hair were in the best condition by using the K18 Mist and Mask – which are my go tos for healthy, shiny hair. "On day one we went for a sleek straight look which I created by using a heat protector and a blow dry brush to add some volume, before going in with a straightening iron. "On day two we wanted to create a fantasy mermaid look. I started off by prepping her hair with K18 Mist, followed by ghd Body Goals to add some serious volume to her blowout. Then, using a straightening iron I waved all her hair and created a softer wave on top by using the ‘s wave’ technique."
