Now life imitates art for actress Taylor Momson, who plays fashion design student Jenny Humphrey in the show.
There's been a buzz about Taylor's bleached blonde style and heavy fringe combo which nods to punky, white-blonde queens past like pop rocker Debbie Harry, who Taylor was recently photographed with, and infamous Sid Vicious squeeze Nancy Spungen.
The style is also perfect for the grunge revival, with more than a passing resemblance to Courtney Love's locks circa 1993, when she was in full-on babydoll screamer mode.
It helps that Taylor's Gossip Girl wardrobe is a fantastic mix of cute floral dresses, biker jackets, quirky accessories and slouchy handbags.
Too hip for Hollywood, it's almost as if the makers of Gossip Girl nicked her from the cast of Skins. She also gets rock n' roll brownie points for playing the guitar in her own band 'The Reckless.'
In real life, Taylor has turned up at events wearing neon pink heels, hip sunnies and must-have charm necklaces, keeping her on-screen cred' alive. Hanging out with it-girl types like 
Daisy Lowe doesn't hurt either.
She keeps her tresses interesting by going from a dead-straight fringe with messy lengths to side-swept bangs teamed with loose curls.
At only fifteen, she's flirting with the classic rock chick look and bringing it to a hip new audience. She pulls off unkempt glamour with her bubblegum blonde mane and a slash of red lippy.
It's good to see a new rock babe on the block. Let's just hope that she's using deep conditioning treatments so that her hair won't be burnt out by the time she's twenty-five!
