Whether it's worn straight, sleek and skinny for a minimalist feel or thick, luxurious and shiny for a 1970s, Love Story vibe, this season it's all about ironing out the kinks for something entirely smoother.
Amanda Seyfried brings the look to life on the red carpet, proving that straight styles don't have to be strict or scary to work,
We asked Rosie Potter from Brooks + Brooks, London for her verdict on the trend....
"Smooth, straight, sensational - super-straight, glossy and sexy hair is back, so it's time to dust off those straighteners and tame that mane!
"Versatility is still key for clients though, and this must-have trend for Spring/Summer was interpreted in various ways on the catwalks to achieve a selection of day-to-night looks.
"At Derek Lam, hair was poker straight but with a little lived-in texture, while at Emilio Pucci
hair was centre-parted, smooth and loosely pinned away from the face with elaborate ivory pins. For Lacoste, the usual girlish feel of straight hair was given a sharp, powerful twist with sleek, wet-look gloss and heavy side partings.
"In this picture from the Screen Actor's Guild Awards, Amanda Seyfried's stylist has kept her tresses slick by blow-drying with a large barrel brush, and controlling - but not entirely removing - her natural wave. Shiny, healthy hair is key to achieving this look at home - and is why Amanda's hair looks so fantastic; it's in great condition."
