Hj's british hairdressing awards 2012: the show

One of the highlights of The British Hairdressing Awards is always the catwalk show of models presented by nominees for HJ's British Hairdresser of the Year.
Each of the eight nominees showcases the creative skills that earned them their place and for 2012 the talented shortlist each presented two models that represented their signature style.
Errol Douglas
Errol Douglas presented gothic-inspired Geisha girls, tackling two Autumn/Winter 2012 trends in one. Black and brunette hair was sculpted into origami shapes on one model and intricate textured curls on another, with studs and spikes adding embellishment to the looks.
Tim Hartley
Tim Hartley presented two trademark blonde bombshells, with two short cuts styled in contrasting ways. Dressed in statement Comme des Garçons dresses from the now famous 'flat' collection, Tim's models showed the versatility of short hair with a sleekly styled crop and voluminous curls.
Mark Hayes
Sassoon creative director, Mark Hayes, paid homage to the late, great Vidal Sassoon with two classic cuts that acknowledged the bobbed shapes that he was renowned for. Pristine cuts were enhanced through immaculate colour, with a black and blonde model providing ultimate contrast.
Hooker & Young
Gary Hooker and Michael Young presented a study in contrasts with monochrome models showcasing their avant-garde skills. Black and white couture gowns in floaty fabrics complemented the textured black and white hair for a fairytale representation of light and dark.
Akin Konizi
Akin Konizi of HOB Salons brought to life his British Hairdresser of the Year nominee's collection with two looks that referenced vintage style while remaining entirely modern at the same time. A creamy blonde afro styled into a rounded shape contrasted starkly against a monochrome, sleek crop.
Mark Leeson
Mark Leeson of Mark Leeson Hair, Body & Mind combined his love of glamorous hair, gorgeous colour and avant-garde styling with two multi-textured looks in blonde, baby pink and white. Futuristic visors inspired by the Autumn/Winter 2012 Alexander McQueen gave a tough edge to romantic curls dressed out into textured halos of hair.
Angelo Seminara
Angelo Seminara showcased his skills with two dramatic models, who appeared to have been sculpted from stone. Coated in pale grey spray, the models contrasted the heavy feel of the stone-effect with gravity-defying styles that saw hair shaped into spiralling updos.
Jamie Stevens
Jamie Stevens showcased two monochrome looks, using innovative colouring techniques to create smudged and camouflage-esque finishes. Colour was brought to life through a classic bob and textured crop, adding an extra dimension to the colour effects.
